SUMMARY:Tupua Horo Nuku - Resilience and Shared Path Celebration postponed until Sunday
DESCRIPTION:The weather is gate crashing our celebration!\n\nThe weather isn’t looking too flash for Saturday – so the decision is to postpone the public informal part of the day until Sunday 19 April (next day). Same places\, same time (10am-2pm)\, same fun – just hopefully better weather. \nThe official proceedings (blessing and opening) will still go ahead from 6am at Whiorau Reserve on Saturday 18th April. \nSunday – Get your bikes tuned up\, lace up your walking shoes\, and prepare to explore the completed 4.4km path with us!\nWe have fun things planned for your whānau around the Eastern Bays. Come along from 10am-2pm on Sunday 19 April and join us at:\nWhiorau Reserve– Kōrero with the Tupua Horo Nuku Project Team– Talk with MIRO (Mainland Island Restoration Operation) about pest trapping in our Eastern Bays– Free bike tune-ups\, advice and 10minute eBike test rides from Wildfinder.– Riding with Olivia will be around with one of their special trishaws\, dubbed ‘couches on wheels” each trishaw is designed to give a comfortable ride for two passengers in a relaxed sitting position\, allowing everyone a chance to get out and explore the shared path.– Facepainter for tamariki.– Food trucks if you need a quick snack!\nWilliams Park– Bike fix-ups with the team from Free Ride.– Wellington Free Ambulance will be joining us for the community to look through an ambulance and talk with paramedics. They will also be giving quick lessons on how to do the latest CPR and use the AEDs that can be found out in the community.– Play Trailer\, face painter and activities for tamariki.– Chat with the Eastbourne Community Board and grab a free bike bell.– Eastbourne Historical Society will be sharing some photos showing the Eastern Bays over the years.– ShareHeat sauna will be set-up with their handcrafted wood-fired sauna nearby. They’re offering free 1 hr sauna sessions at 11am & 12:30pm – spaces limited\, make sure you book online to secure a spot!– Our Road Safety Team will be onsite for quick bike checks and freebies to make sure you’re all set to cycle safely.– Plus….food from our wonderful local operators and food trucks.\nSan Antonio Tennis Courts– Melo Yelo will be offering eBike test rides on the courts\, or head out for a quick ride along the shared path.– The Crust Pit Stop – Walk along the path then stop in and visit Crust\, they’ll have Golden Tickets in selected bags\, redeemable ay Crust for prizes!\nAlong the whole shared path (from Ngau Matau / Point Howard to Mā-koromiko)– Stop and snap – discover our special photo spots along the path created by local artists and Muritai School tamariki.– Collect them all – grab a Tupua Horo Nuku postcard and find the six stamps along the path. Collect three to enter our prize draw.\nWe’re expecting a busy day and there will be limited parking available around the bays. We recommend you walk\, bike\, scooter (or even skateboard!) if you can. Choosing public transport\, or parking a bit further away and then walking\, will make sure everyone has a good time.\nLet the Eastbourne Community Board ring you up! Watch out for us\, we’ll be giving away bike bells at Williams Park (and possibly at Whiorau Reserve).

DESCRIPTION:It’s that time of year again\, so mark your calendar! Our next Eastbourne beach clean-up is scheduled for Sunday\, April 19th. \nWe’ll be set up at the usual place – the picnic table just before Burdan’s Gate – from 9:00 until noon. \nAll welcome\, for any length of time. Even half an hour makes a big difference. \nBags and gloves provided. \n
