SUMMARY:Parangarahu Lakes Community Planting Day
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a day of planting at these nationally significant lakes. \nThe Parangarahu Lakes are important to the surrounding environment and are home to native taonga. This includes a range of wetland plants\, īnanga (galaxias maculatus)\, manu (birds)\, and our native freshwater mussel\, the kākahi. \nThis planting day is perfect for those who enjoy a bit of physical activity\, as you’ll be carrying plants and digging holes. \n What to bring/wear:\n• Sturdy boots or gumboots\n• Long sleeves and pants\, and a waterproof jacket are essential. Layering and wearing a hat or beanie is a good way to stay warm. This site can be very exposed\, so it is a good idea to bring a spare change of clothes.\n• Feel free to bring your own favourite spade and gloves.\n• Bring your own water bottle\, and snacks. \n We provide:\n• FREE transport from Burdan’s Gate\, Eastbourne\, along the rugged coast to the Lower Pencarrow Lighthouse at the harbour entrance and onto the entrance of the first lake. Please book your seat as we have limited numbers. No private cars will have access.\n• Plants and planting tools\, gloves.\n• An experienced team leader\, health and safety management and training. \nBooking is essential to secure your seat on the bus to the lakes \nRegister here  \n\n\nGreater Wellington — Parangarahu Lakes Community Planting Day https://www.gw.govt.nz/your-region/events-and-meetings/parangarahu-co/
