DESCRIPTION:ShakeOut 2025 is happening at 9:30am on 16 October\, and applications are open! \nShakeOut is self-run earthquake and tsunami drill held across the world to remind people of the right action to take during an earthquake. \nDuring an earthquake\, Drop\, Cover and Hold. You can also practice a tsunami hīkoi (evacuation walk) if you’re in a coastal area. \n \n\n\n\n\n\nEvery individual or household that registers goes into the draw to win a personal grab bag. \nBags will be delivered and stocked with items to keep you safe during an emergency. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvery organisation\, school\, university\, marae\, or community group that registers goes into the draw to win a Civil Defence wheelie bin. \nBins will be delivered and stocked with a range of helpful items to help keep people safe during an emergency. \n\n\nWe’re looking for any positive stories and photos you have to share from any of your previous ShakeOuts. \nYou may have run your ShakeOut a little differently to others\, or you may have discovered something eye-opening during a previous drill or hīkoi that you still use today. If you have any interesting stories or photos to share\, please email our comms team below\, and it may end up in an upcoming ShakeOut newsletter! \n\n\n\nEmail us your stories and photos!
