Tēnā koutou

Radio test this Saturday 9:30am 27 July 2024.

Nothing to report other than we are busy campaigning to retain our community board (as stated and below) - any support appreciated. It's important to get support from other wards to have their own boards (if you support this) - otherwise it could be interpreted as "entitled" or similar, so if you know anyone outside Eastern Bays, feel free to give then a nudge.

NOTICEMore information plus access to the online submission process here.

The Representation Review (recommendations on how our city is represented in terms of elected roles) has been released and will be put to HCC this Thursday.

The review recommends the removal of all community boards. Assuming the council accepts the report there should be a 1 month consultation period. Our (ECB) view is that the report is flawed in many areas, and their own data indicates that a "community board" structure is both preferred and appropriate for all wards, not just the current Harbour and Wainuiomata wards. My focus for the next month will be on this, starting with a statement to HCC on Thursday on behalf of the ECB. I may update you via this  email list in the interim, but please keep an eye out for any announcements from the council on this issue, and make your thoughts known when the opportunity arises. Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions or thoughts.

FYI - I also manage the website http://eastbourne.nz/ and the electronic notice board in the library - if you have information you'd like to see on either of these please let me know. I have got pages for each bay which have no content - the obvious addition would be information about the bay's emergency resources, plan and contacts etc. so please send anything through.

Note: There are a few Eastbourne email newsletters you can subscribe to here, including one for civil defence notifications.

Ngā mihi
