Greater Wellington Regional Council Public Transport Plan 2025-2035

There are three specific things  residents could submit on

• return of the 85X bus
• better timetable coordination between bus and ferry
• investigation of ferry stops at the Marina or Pt Howard.

Public transport plays a central role in the daily lives of many of us in Eastbourne and the Eastern Bays. It is important that Greater Wellington and the Metlink group hear your thoughts on this key planning document for the public transport network.

Consultation closes on Friday 28 March 2025.

The Medium Density Residential Zone covers a significant portion of Lower Hutt’s residential areas, including areas in the Hutt Valley floor, Western Hills, Stokes Valley, Wainuiomata and Eastern Bays. The Medium Density Residential Zone typically covers areas that have a lower level of access to commercial centres, community facilities and rapid transit services than the High Density Residential Zone.
While areas in the Medium Density Residential Zone are predominantly residential in nature, non-residential activities are provided for where they are compatible with the residential character of the area and serve the local community.

Emergency Hub Response Practice

Days Bay  (open to all Eastern Bays residents)

Date: Sunday 23 March 2025, Time: 2:00pm – 4:00pm, Location: Wellesley College, 611A Marine Drive, Days Bay, Lower Hutt

A Community Emergency Hub is a place for the community to gather and coordinate efforts to help each other during and after a disaster.

Come along and find out more about the Days Bay Community Emergency Hub and the types of help that may be needed after an emergency.

Have fun meeting together and practicing various roles with an interactive earthquake scenario.

Open to all ages and abilities, no experience needed!

The Eastbourne Community Board has it's annual tour of the Eastern Bays to discuss issues with the respective resident associations from Point Howard to Days Bay.

This year’s walkaround will take place on Saturday morning, 29 March. If you live in the Eastern Bays, contact your resident association if you’d like to discuss anything with us.

We will have time late morning to discuss any issues in Eastbourne. Email belinda.moss@huttcity.govt.nz if you’d like to meet with the Board on 29 March.

ATM update

We are informed this is to be installed in the same location in the Harcourts building as the former Westpac unit within the next 2 weeks. We are also informed that the cost of successful withdrawals will be $3, but there will be no charge for account balances. (Unconfirmed - There may be a representative from the ATM company at the next ECB meeting.)
