Eastern Bays Climate Response Network (update)

Welcome to 2023 , a year of new beginnings and climate action in Eastbourne and Bays.
Put Wednesday 1st March in your diary for us to meet and discuss plans and action for 2023.
If you are in a group it would be great if you could get together before then to plan next steps or just list ideas.

Climate science has been coming under increasing attack. Geologist Simon Lamb takes a look at what’s really happening with global warming by filming scientists at The result is a unique exploration of the science behind global warming, and an intimate portrait of a global community of researchers racing to understand our planet’s changing climate.

Some suggestions already received
Put on wall, people tick those they are keen on AND put name if happy to help
A mighty parade of walkers and bikers ( e-bikes and human propelled) gather when Windy Point shared path opened – dress up, celebrate
Promote community reduction of emissions ( transport/ at home/ streets)
Map Eastbourne and each bay ( street by street or individual problem spots) for present or future risks ( houses that flood in heavy rainfall, streams and pipes that can’t cope, scary slopes
Organise streets / bays action groups
Every bit of water prevented from hurtling into overloaded council system helps. Organize workshops on improving gutters, digging own drains and sumps, installing water tanks
Organize experienced people to visit properties and advise on slip prevention, improving property resilience
Engage with council on their climate initiatives / how applicable to us
Use social media to promote community action and enthusiasm?
