Proposed changes to how our communities are represented on Council have just been released for public consultation and we’re keen to hear from you by 1 August.
An independent panel undertook community engagement in late 2023 and early 2024 to consider representation in Lower Hutt and have now recommended:

That there be no community boards in Lower Hutt and the three existing community boards in Petone, Eastbourne and Wainuiomata be disestablished.

That Hutt City Council be made up of a mayor and 13 councillors:
• 5 councillors elected at-large from across the city (one fewer than currently).
• 1 councillor elected from Mana Kairangi ki Tai Māori Ward, covering the whole city (new position as voted by Council in 2023).
• 7 councillors elected from 5 general wards (one more councillor and one fewer wards than currently).

The panel’s report, FAQs and how to have your say are at hutt.city/repreview or visit any Council hub.
