MIRO 2023 AGM

July 28, 2023 @ 6:30 PM NZST

MIRO

NOTICE OF MIRO 2023 AGM

MIRO members and helpers are invited to attend our Annual General Meeting:

6.30 p.m. on Friday, 28th July 2023

Muritai School Hall

166 Muritai Road, Eastbourne

This year the 2023 MIRO Annual General Meeting will again be held in the Muritai School Hall so that we are in a well-ventilated environment. Mask wearing will be voluntary.

This is the time for the Committee to thank MIRO members for their contributions over the past year. It also provides the opportunity to hear about the good work being done by MIRO volunteers and meet other members.

The AGM will start promptly at 6.30 p.m. This year, the formal part of the meeting and presentation will be followed by MIRO’s traditional supper of fish & chips, pizza, tea and coffee.

For those of you who wish to join MIRO or continue your formal membership, the membership renewal details are: Individual $10, Family $15 (2 or more people at the same address). Please make payments to the MIRO Account No: 38-9015-0249942-00, with your name in the Reference field. If you are a new member, please also email your contact details to info@miro.org.nz.

This Year’s Presentation:

MIRO Past and Future —People, Pests and Plants

Speakers —Jo Greenman and Terry Webb

Having noticed that some of us are getting older, we decided that now was a good time to present a potted history of MIRO’s formation and activities up until the present day. Contributions and corrections from the floor will be welcome, but we do want to keep to time so that the supper doesn’t get cold!

Terry will then talk about our thoughts and plans for future pest control in the Northern Forest, especially the removal of rats, which could pave the way for the translocation of vulnerable bird species.

Jo will then take over and talk about current and future revegetation work at Roto Parangarahu and Ōrua-pouanui (Baring Head). This is especially pertinent in terms of the climate crisis that we are facing.

Intending to come along? So that we have some idea of numbers attending, please RSVP by email. Partners, family members and friends who have helped MIRO are most welcome.
