What will climate change mean to Eastbourne? And what can we do about it? Meeting to inform Eastern Bays residents on climate change issues, promote discussion and identify future community responses. More details will be added as they become available. Speakers Associate Professor Richard Levy - Come and learn about the New Zealand SeaRise project and how it’s data can help you plan for, and adapt to, rising seas. New sea level projections account for local land movement, which can either accelerate or slow down sea level rise, and are available at points every 2km around our coastline.

Emergency Mobile Alert (EMA) system test

We’re testing the Emergency Mobile Alert (EMA) system on Sunday, 28 May, between 6-7pm. The alert will be broadcast from cell towers across New Zealand to all capable phones. So, you don’t need to download an app or subscribe to a service to receive it. In a real-life emergency situation, an alert may be sent to target areas affected by serious hazards. If you get an alert, stop, read the message, and take it seriously. It will tell you what the emergency is and what to do. It will also tell you which agency sent the message and if needed, where to go for more

Emergency Mobile Alert – Nationwide Test

The nationwide test of the Emergency Mobile Alert (EMA) system is happening on Sunday, 26 May, between 6-7pm The alert will be broadcast from cell towers to about 5 million phone across NZ. As long as your phone is on, capable, the software is up-to-date you should receive the alert. Emergency Mobile Alert is an extra channel that can help keep you safe in an emergency. It does not replace other alerting systems or the need to take action after natural warnings. You should still be prepared for an emergency. If you feel your in danger, never wait for an official warning. Take immediate action.
