  • Community Board Election nominations close (noon)

Please consider standing for the board, we fought to keep it, now let's use it to support our community. It's as much work (or as little) as you want to make it, and our primary responsibility is to represent the community to council. We pass on information to the community, get feedback, and relay that back to HCC as appropriate. We need 5 candidates to complete the board, 6 or more to have an election. Ideally we want broad representation across the whole community - Eastbourne and the Bays. You don't have to do any electioneering if you don't want to. Some current board members

Meet the candidates for the upcoming local body elections. This election you will be voting for the mayor, 5 city-wide candidates, and 3 regional council candidates. Our Harbour Ward councillor Tui Lewis has already been decided (uncontested), and our Community Board is also decided as we only had the required 5 candidates nominated, meaning no contest is required. This election will also feature 2 referendums. To retain the new Maori Ward (binding  - this will affect the next election in 2028, not this one). If Hutt City Council should investigate the options for amalgamation (non-binding) There will be more information on both these issues leading

  • Local Body Elections – including regional and city councils, and community board.

Local Government Elections: The Local Government Commission overruled the HCC council vote to disestablish the Eastbourne Community Board as of the next election. This means ECB will be part of the next election cycle.  Thank you Eastbourne for your support! Local body elections are your opportunity to elect your regional (GWRC) and city (Hutt City) councillors, and your community board members (ECB).
