We urgently need more volunteers to train as lifeguards for our Summer Pool – and the final day to sign up is Monday, 19 January. So far, three amazing community members have stepped up and completed their training. We are incredibly grateful – but it’s not enough. Without additional volunteers, Eastbourne Pool will be forced to close in mid-February. Keeping the pool open for the full season is critical. It allows our school and swim club to complete their swimming programmes, ensuring our children can build confidence and safety in the water – something that matters to all of us as a coastal community. https://eastbourne.nz/2026/01/14/last-chance-to-keep-our-pool-open-for-the-full-season/ |

Wednesday 28 January 2026 at 11:00am, Eastbourne Neighbourhood Hub. An evocative semi-autobiographical coming of age story of friendship, family, love, betrayal, and resilience. Sunshine Road explores the journey of self-discovery, the courage of self-acceptance, and the transformative power of embracing your inner knowing of who you can become. Sunshine Road developed from a handful of short stories written twenty years ago. Catherine Manchester grew up in Eastbourne, studied English Literature at Victoria and Fine Arts at Otago Polytechnic. Soon after graduation she won the Rita Angus art award and has painted and exhibited throughout New Zealand. 04 562 8042 There's no need to book your |
