Muritai Yacht Club - Female sailors from across Wellington will be competing in a 4 race series with an emphasis on fun. The club is also running an open day, encouraging people to come along and watch as well as seeing what the club does. People are invited to come to afternoon tea about 4pm and enjoy a glass of something from about 5pm. Come and enjoy the beach, the harbour, sailing and the social ambience of our community.

Surf Life Saving New Zealand assessment of Days Bay beach.

Surf Life Saving New Zealand are in the process of conducting an assessment of Days Bay beach. The assessment looks at what can be done to make Days Bay safer for beach goers particularly in the summer months. As part of the process of this assessment they want to meet with locals who are willing to contribute their ideas, views on local risks, or ideas of how improvements to safety could be made. If you are interested in attending the meeting is going to be held at Wellesley College, Monday 12th December 7pm  

Beach Night – Rona Bay Beach

Beach Night planned at Rona Bay Beach (in front of yacht club), on Jan 13th, 6pm to 8pm.  The event is an opportunity for enhance community relations and wellbeing especially for our young ones. We have Bubbles, Sandcastle building toys, Marshmallows and Smores with a little Bonfire and other toys and sports gear planned for the day. Free event. Free kayak safety workshop

Kayak Safety Workshop in memory of Jack Skellett, 1998-2021 After the success of the first two workshops there will be another FREE kayak safety workshop held in Days Bay on Thursday 21st December 2023, open to all. This will be a comprehensive, 1 day event covering every aspect of water kayaking safety, with a strong focus on theory and building awareness, plus practical and skills development. Welly Walks – Kowhai Street / Butterfly Creek Track

On the last weekend of January, walk any of these six trails and discover hidden prizes. The Wellington region has a diverse network of trails to walk, run, and ride. There are hundreds to discover that lead to fabulous views, swimming holes, waterfalls, and picnic spots. Every day is a good day to go for a walk, but the incentive is even higher on 27 and 28 January. For one weekend only, treats have been hidden on six welly-walked trails in the region. ZM Black Thunder promo Days Bay

On Saturday 3 February the ZM Black Thunders (radio crew) will be running an activation at Days Bay for two hours (time TBC). They will be giving away locally-made treats + the chance to win a bigger prize. There will be games, activities etc. Promoting the Hutt Valley as a quintessential summer spot and to encourage visitors (primarily Wellingtonians) to the area.

Eastbourne Wharf to Wharf Swim 2024

The Eastbourne Wharf-to-Wharf swim was held on Sunday 3rd March - results of the 2024 swim can be found here The Wharf-to-Wharf swim has become an Eastbourne institution that has been running for over 100 years. This fun, non-competitive friendly swim event is run by the Muritai Yacht Club and volunteers for the benefit of the Eastbourne community.  The course begins on Days Bay beach and finishes next to the Rona Bay wharf in Eastbourne. Every person is a winner and at a distance of approximately 1.25km it is an event that all age groups can enjoy together.
