Targeted Weed Control: CL Bishop Park Bird Protection Area

Contractors will be returning to the dunes in front of CL Bishop Park in July 2025 for another round of targeted weed control to ensure the continued success of the native plants that support dune restoration and the Bird Protection Area. Are you 11 - 19 years old? Have you got ideas about what this will look like? When? Monday 28 July Eastbourne Library 5:30 - 7pm Food provided. This will be an info evening to explore establishing our own Youth Forum in Eastbourne and the Bays. The Eastbourne Youth Forum is a youth-led initiative for young people to have a voice, lead solutions, and connect with our community. This concept aims to foster a more cohesive and connected Eastbourne community. It will be a youth-led space, supported by the ECB, where young people can: Voice their needs and interests Engage with the community and Foster Community

It's as much work (or as little) as you want to make it, and our primary responsibility is to represent the community to council. We pass on information to the community, get feedback, and relay that back to HCC as appropriate. We need 5 candidates to complete the board, 6 or more to have an election. Professional deer cullers in East Harbour Regional Park (11 Aug – 19 Sept)

Greater Wellington Regional Council have contracted professional deer cullers who will be hunting in East Harbour Regional Park Northern Forest between 11th August & 19th September. Hunters will be only hunting when weather conditions are conducive to hunting. There will be 13 days of actual hunting in the period. No hunting will be undertaken on weekends, public holidays or school holidays. Hunting will on occasion be occurring at night.
