What will climate change mean to Eastbourne? And what can we do about it? Meeting to inform Eastern Bays residents on climate change issues, promote discussion and identify future community responses. More details will be added as they become available. Questions can be submitted using form below. Speakers Associate Professor Richard Levy - Come and learn about the New Zealand SeaRise project and how it’s data can help you plan for, and adapt to, rising seas. New sea level projections account for local land movement, which can either accelerate or slow down sea level rise, and are available at points every 2km around our coastline.

Submissions close – Proposed plan for intensification in residential & commercial areas

The proposed plan change aims to improve housing supply and affordability and means fewer restrictions on development. While the significant parts of the plan change are mandated by the legislation, there are some factors that the public can influence. Coastal Restoration video series

The Historical Society of Eastbourne is hosting an exciting video presentation by artist Janet Andrews and photographer Simon Hoyle of Southlight Studio in Days Bay. Janet and Simon will present selected videos from their Coastal Restoration series, a two-year project funded by the Department of Conservation. Short and easy to understand - about how we can reduce hazards, and restore & protect our coast for the future. The presentation is at 2pm on Sunday 23rd April in the East Harbour Women’s Club, 145 Muritai Road, Eastbourne. Afternoon tea will be served afterwards. All welcome. HSE members free; non-members by gold coin donation.

East Harbour Women's Club guest speaker is Dr Dave Lowe, Adjunct Professor Atmospheric Chemistry, Antarctic Research Centre, Victoria University. Author of the "Alarmist" and winner of the EH McCormick prize for General Non-fiction - NZ Book Awards 2022. Thursday 18 May 6pm. Cost $15. Refreshment and snacks will be served.
