Included in the agenda for the 16th June 2026 ECB meeting is Report no: ECB2026/3/138 – The Sunshine Bay to Days Bay section of the pathway has been highly topical and subject to comment through the life of the Tupua Horo Nuku project, and more so since it’s official opening. We recommend you download the agenda and read this section if you have an interest in this issue. The report begins:
Shared Path Transition: Sunshine Bay to Days Bay
Purpose of Report
To seek approval for the construction of a shared use path between Sunshine Bay and the Days Bay timber boardwalk, and to implement the detailed design for a further extension of the shared path to an approximate point opposite Ferry Road.
Recommendations
That the Committee recommends that Council:
- receives and notes this report;
- approves the construction of a shared use path from Sunshine Bay to the Days Bay timber boardwalk; and
- approves undertaking the detailed design of the shared use path extension to a point opposite Ferry Road.
It then gives the background, discussion, options, consultation and financial considerations. There are plans for the two sections also included.
