This election you will be voting for the mayor, 5 city-wide candidates, and 3 regional council candidates. Our Harbour Ward councillor Tui Lewis has already been decided (uncontested), and our Community Board is also decided as we only had the required 5 candidates nominated, meaning no contest is required.
This election will also feature 2 referendums.
- To retain the new Maori Ward (binding – this will affect the next election in 2028, not this one).
- Non-binding referendum on whether Hutt City Council should “explore amalgamation options with Wellington, Upper Hutt and Porirua City Councils, and the Greater Wellington Regional Council, which combine relevant services and functions, while keeping appropriate local services and decision-making local.”
