The saga of the Eastbourne Police Cell Museum.

Years ago Murray Gibbons, Eastbourne Community Board member, rescued the historic Eastbourne jail and with the support of locals and HCC staff developed the idea of restoring and installing it at the base of Rona Wharf as part of the popular Heritage Trail. The jail was moved to it’s current location in Williams Park with the help of HCC for restoration. 8 years on and a variety of issues have meant the jail is still there, and we now face a deadline of removing it by the 3 April or the council will dispose of it at Murray’s cost. We are looking for community support to either:
1. take this 4.2m x 2.4m x 3.5m(high) shed for their own use, or
2. help dispose the shed
We are exploring options (basically now disposal) but would welcome community input. Deadline 3 April. Please contact Murray or the community board.
