Hello Eastbourne community, Our Burdan's Gate to Pencarrow Lighthouse beach clean up is scheduled for Saturday, November 25th, 9:00-12:00. With all the rain and wind we’ve had, there’s sure to be lots of work for us. Bags and gloves provided. Everyone welcome. Come along for half an hour or a few hours, whatever suits. Parangarahu Lakes Community Planting Day

Parangarahu Lakes Pencarrow Head, Lower Hutt, New Zealand

Join us for a day of planting mingimingi, ake ake, and other native species at these nationally significant lakes. The Parangarahu Lakes are important to the surrounding environment and are home to native taonga. This includes a range of wetland plants, īnanga (galaxias maculatus), manu (birds), and our native freshwater mussel, the kākahi. This planting day is perfect for those who enjoy a bit of physical activity, as you’ll be carrying plants and digging holes.  What to bring/wear:• Sturdy boots or gumboots• Long sleeves and pants, and a waterproof jacket are essential. Layering and wearing a hat or beanie is a good way to stay

East Harbour Environmental Association AGM plus speaker

The East Harbour Environmental Association is holding its AGM next Wednesday evening. As is customary, there will be a speaker at 8 pm and members of the public are most welcome. Speaker: Liz Gibson on local stream systems Liz is from Mountains to Sea Wellington Trust and carries out educational work on NZ stream systems. She will start with a quick briefing on the work they do, including with schools in our area, and then outline the current state and ecology of local streams of the eastern harbour catchments.
