EB Scouts are doing their bit for the planet this month and collecting scrap metal for recycling on Saturday 25th January. This is a free service for our local community and all you need to do is send us a quick message via Facebook noting any bulky items, and have everything on the curb by 9am on the day. Here’s the agenda for next Tuesday’s Eastbourne Community Board meeting at 7.15pm, 11 February at the East Harbour Women’s Club. Everyone is welcome. Come along and hear updates from: • Mayor Barry • Council about the residents' satisfaction survey, the Tupua Hro Nuku project, Council's sustainable growth strategy, and its low carbon acceleration fund • Greater Wellington Regional Council. Or use the public speaking spot to talk for up to 3 minutes about any community matter. ECB members will be available from 6.45pm to discuss any issues or concerns before the meeting. The Eastbourne Wharf-to-Wharf swim will be next held on Sunday 2nd March 2025. The Wharf-to-Wharf swim has become an Eastbourne institution that has been running for over 100 years. This fun, non-competitive friendly swim event is run by the Muritai Yacht Club and volunteers for the benefit of the Eastbourne community. The course begins on Days Bay beach and finishes next to the Rona Bay wharf in Eastbourne. Ever since the bones of King Richard III were exhumed from a Leicester City Council car park in 2012, interest in the much-maligned king continues to grow. Come along and find out more about the Days Bay Community Emergency Hub and the types of help that may be needed after an emergency. Have fun meeting together and practicing various roles with an interactive earthquake scenario. Open to all ages and abilities, no experience needed! Refreshments provided. The walk-around is an annual event that sees ECB members and a Council officer visit each of the Eastern Bays in turn to discuss any issues and concerns. Issues are logged with Council and the ECB follows up on progress. We plan to start at Point Howard at 9am and move south, spending 20-30 minutes in each bay at an agreed location. Please leave this date free. We'll be in touch with more information closer to the time.
The EMRSA AGM - The 2025 AGM will be held on Sunday the 30th of March 2025 at 1pm in the Clubrooms Tuatoru Street, Eastbourne. The final acceptance date for the 'Nominations for the Executive Committee' – and for acceptance of ‘Motions for Consideration’ - is the 8th of March 2025. A reminder that to participate in the AGM and the running of your RSA – and to use the ESSC facilities, you must be a current financial member.
