Here’s the agenda for next Tuesday’s Eastbourne Community Board meeting at 7.15pm, 11 February at the East Harbour Women’s Club. Everyone is welcome. Come along and hear updates from: • Mayor Barry • Council about the residents' satisfaction survey, the Tupua Hro Nuku project, Council's sustainable growth strategy, and its low carbon acceleration fund • Greater Wellington Regional Council. Or use the public speaking spot to talk for up to 3 minutes about any community matter. ECB members will be available from 6.45pm to discuss any issues or concerns before the meeting. (We're back at the East Harbour Women's Club while we resolve sound issues

Eastbourne Wharf to Wharf Swim 2025

The Eastbourne Wharf-to-Wharf swim will be next held on Sunday 2nd March 2025. The Wharf-to-Wharf swim has become an Eastbourne institution that has been running for over 100 years. This fun, non-competitive friendly swim event is run by the Muritai Yacht Club and volunteers for the benefit of the Eastbourne community.  The course begins on Days Bay beach and finishes next to the Rona Bay wharf in Eastbourne. Every person is a winner and at a distance of approximately 1.25km it is an event that all age groups can enjoy together. EMRSA AGM

The EMRSA AGM - The 2025 AGM will be held on Sunday the 30th of March 2025 at 1pm in the Clubrooms Tuatoru Street, Eastbourne. The final acceptance date for the 'Nominations for the Executive Committee' – and for acceptance of ‘Motions for Consideration’ - is the 8th of March 2025. A reminder that to participate in the AGM and the running of your RSA – and to use the ESSC facilities, you must be a current financial member.

RSA Poppy Day

Poppy Day is the RNZRSA's main fundraising activity. Donations collected on Poppy Day help us improve the health and wellbeing outcomes for New Zealand's veterans of all ages. You can donate to the RSA at anytime: Click here to donate online. The RSA was established in 1916 with the aim of taking care of New Zealand’s veterans and their families as soldiers returned from Gallipoli. While today’s soldiers face different challenges, our support to them and their whanau continues. In 2024 we celebrated 102 years of the Poppy Appeal – with the Poppy campaign running throughout the month of April and Poppy Day, our street collection,

ANZAC Day

Anzac Day is usually commemorated by the Eastbourne Community at the war memorial adjacent to Muritai School, followed by refreshments at the Eastbourne Sports and Services Club. Anzac Day is observed on 25 April. It commemorates New Zealanders killed in war and honours returned and serving servicemen and women. Anzac Day dates 1916 – Anzac Day gazetted as a half-day holiday 1921 – Anzac Day becomes a full public holiday 1939 – Dawn ceremony widely included in New Zealand Anzac Day commemorations for the first time 1949 – Legislation passed preventing Anzac Day from being 'Mondayised' 1966 – Current Anzac Day Act liberalises activities allowed

Local Body Elections – including regional and city councils, and community board.

The Local Government Commission overruled the HCC council vote to disestablish the Eastbourne Community Board as of the next election. This means ECB will be part of the next election cycle.  Thank you Eastbourne for your support! Local body elections are your opportunity to elect your regional (GWRC) and city (Hutt City) councillors, and your community board members (ECB).
