Make your own Easter Hot Cross buns- with apple, raisins and cinnamon for children aged 5-12 or Easter Loaf  with almonds, dried apricots & cherries for teenagers and adults. Easter baking day: Sunday 6 April at St Albans’ hall kitchen in Ngaio Street. Hot cross bun making  at 10.30 am for children aged 7-12:; Easter loaf making at 12 noon for teens and adults,. Please register soon at office@stalbanschurch.nz so there are enough ingredients for everybody. Koha for St Alban’s Church seismic strengthening fund.

RSA Poppy Day

Poppy Day is the RNZRSA's main fundraising activity. Donations collected on Poppy Day help us improve the health and wellbeing outcomes for New Zealand's veterans of all ages. The RSA was established in 1916 with the aim of taking care of New Zealand’s veterans and their families as soldiers returned from Gallipoli. While today’s soldiers face different challenges, our support to them and their whanau continues. Burdan’s Gate Beach Clean

We pick up rubbish along the shoreline from Burdan's Gate to the Pencarrow lighthouses. Everyone is welcome, for any length of time. Even half an hour makes a difference! You'll find us at the picnic table just past Wildfinder bikes, before the locked gate. Bags & gloves provided.

ANZAC Day

Anzac Day is usually commemorated by the Eastbourne Community at the war memorial adjacent to Muritai School, followed by refreshments at the Eastbourne Sports and Services Club. Assembly at Ballinger Gardens, Makaro Street from 9.30am – March to the Memorial Gates, Muritai School. ANZAC Service commences at 10am. Anzac Day is observed on 25 April. It commemorates New Zealanders killed in war and honours returned and serving servicemen and women. Professional Deer Culling Northern Forest East Harbour Regional Park: 5 May – 13 June

Greater Wellington Regional Council contracted, professional deer cullers will be hunting in East Harbour Regional Park, Northern Forest between 5th May & 13th June. Hunters will be only hunting when weather conditions are conducive to hunting. There will be 16 days of actual hunting in the period. No hunting will be undertaken on weekends, public holidays or school holidays. Hunting will on occasion be occurring at night. The EHRP website will be updated daily as the hunter communicates his plans to Jo or Zane at GWRC. PICTURE PERFECT – Historical Society of Eastbourne: 7-17 May

Even better, an anonymous benefactor would pay the gallery fees. Of course we said yes!
