This is a presentation to Greater Wellington Regional Council made by Tamara Tubbs, speaking on behalf of a community group, which includes Bob Roche, Jim Pinson and Lisa South, working with Eastbourne and Miramar Peninsular residents, the Eastbourne community board, local business owners and schools to explore reinstating the Days Bay–Seatoun–Queens Wharf ferry service.
The presentation begins: For many years there was a morning and evening commuter ferry connecting Days Bay, Seatoun and Queens Wharf. It was part of Wellington’s public transport network. People relied on it to get to work, school and around the city. It connected communities across the harbour. Three years ago that connection was lost. Today we’re not asking Greater Wellington council to create something new. We’re asking you to consider reconnecting this important public transport service and strengthening Wellington’s transport network. We believe it would benefit communities on both sides of the harbour by improving access to work, education, the airport and recreation.
