    Days Bay Emergency Response Practice (open to all Eastern Bays residents)

    Date: Sunday 23 March 2025 Time: 2:00pm - 4:00pm Location: Wellesley College, 611A Marine Drive, Days Bay, Lower Hutt A Community Emergency Hub is a place for the community to gather and coordinate efforts to help each other during and after a disaster. Come along and find out more about the Days Bay Community Emergency Hub and the types of help that may be needed after an emergency. Have fun meeting together and practicing various roles with an interactive earthquake scenario. Open to all ages and abilities, no experience needed! Refreshments provided.   • National Emergency Mobile Alert test

    National Emergency Mobile Alert test - save the date The nationwide test of the Emergency Mobile Alert (EMA) system is taking place in the evening of Sunday 25 May between 6-7pm. This is a routine test to make sure the system is working well, and we anticipate that over 5.5 million phones will receive this message. Anybody who may be distressed by the alert, or those have a hidden second phone for their safety, should put their phones in flight mode or turn them off between the hours of 6-7pm on Sunday 25 May to avoid the sound of the alert. Switching to silent mode on

    ShakeOut 2025 is happening at 9:30am on 16 October, and applications are open! ShakeOut is self-run earthquake and tsunami drill held across the world to remind people of the right action to take during an earthquake. During an earthquake, Drop, Cover and Hold. You can also practice a tsunami hīkoi (evacuation walk) if you're in a coastal area. Every individual or household that registers goes into the draw to win a personal grab bag.
