Parangarahu Lakes Community Planting Day

Join us for a day of planting at these nationally significant lakes. The Parangarahu Lakes are important to the surrounding environment and are home to native taonga. This includes a range of wetland plants, īnanga (galaxias maculatus), manu (birds), and our native freshwater mussel, the kākahi. This planting day is perfect for those who enjoy a bit of physical activity, as you’ll be carrying plants and digging holes.  What to bring/wear: • Sturdy boots or gumboots • Long sleeves and pants, and a waterproof jacket are essential. Community Climate Action Fund (closes July 13)

COMMUNITY CLIMATE ACTION FUND (formerly the Community Engagement Fund) Criteria The fund aims to contribute to the city’s carbon reduction goals by funding: i. Community-led carbon reduction initiatives, with a focus on initiatives already identified in the Lower Hutt Climate Pathway ii. Community engagement initiatives that can demonstrate a contribution to carbon reduction in the way they are delivered (eg waste minimisation). To be eligible for funding: • Initiatives/activities must take place within Lower Hutt. • Physical assets must not be stored on Council reserve land or road reserve. • Any asset purchased over the value of $1,000 must be added to the organisation’s asset register.

Are you 11 - 19 years old? Have you got ideas about what this will look like? When? Monday 28 July Eastbourne Library 5:30 - 7pm Food provided. This will be an info evening to explore establishing our own Youth Forum in Eastbourne and the Bays. The Eastbourne Youth Forum is a youth-led initiative for young people to have a voice, lead solutions, and connect with our community. This concept aims to foster a more cohesive and connected Eastbourne community. It will be a youth-led space, supported by the ECB, where young people can: Voice their needs and interests Engage with the community and Foster Community
