Many residents will have seen the recent beach replenishment works at Lowry Bay. Our beautiful sandy beach has been covered with coarse grey gravel, making it difficult to walk on and significantly reducing it's use for swimming and recreation. We invite all residents to come together to discuss what has happened, hear about the steps taken so far, share their view, and agree on what we should do next. Everyone is welcome

Four women; Siobhan, Louise, Annabel and Helen, sign up for The Pink Hammer – a women’s only woodworking course to learn carpentry skills only to find that the tutor, Maggie (who we never meet), has done a runner with their fees and left behind her disgruntled husband Woody, who finds his “man-cave” invaded by the four women. Many of you will remember our successful art exhibition, ‘Picture Perfect’, at the Hutt Art Centre in May last year. We always intended repeating it here in Eastbourne at some stage, and can now confirm that it will take place over the weekend of 14-15 November in the Muritai School Hall, as part of the Wellington Heritage Festival. We’re delighted to have another opportunity to showcase our ‘century of paintings of the eastern bays’ and to tell the stories associated with them. In addition, we hope to display some of our large framed early photographs of the bays, which are historic items in their own

Our spring BURDAN'S GATE BEACH CLEAN UP is scheduled for Sunday, November 15th, 9:00-12:00. Everyone of all ages is welcome and encouraged to come along for any length of time - every little bit makes a difference. Bags and gloves provided. We'll be set up at the usual spot just before Burdan's Gate, at the start of the Pencarrow Road. I’m pleased to say that since our April clean-up, Hutt City Council has installed bollards along the grassy picnic area where we congregate. This is intended to discourage drivers from parking on the grass and driving onto the beach. Hopefully Council will be installing similar bollards
