Walk or cycle to Pencarrow Lighthouse and visit Aotearoa's first lighthouse. Usually closed to the public, we are opening the doors for you to explore inside. Ever wondered if you have what it takes to be a lighthouse keeper back in 1800's? Walk or Cycle out to Pencarrow Lighthouse and climb up to Aotearoa's first lighthouse! Chat with knowledgeable guides about the history, construction and stories behind this unique Poneke landmark while exploring the interior, usually restricted for public access. In support of St Alban's Church and Hall strengthening Step into a world of six acclaimed private gardens each a living canvas of colour, design and inspiration from lush natives to sculpted landscapes. Each garden tells a story and provides a visual image of wonderful creations. One garden, allegedly with the best vista, has not been opened to the public before. One garden has previously featured in the House and Garden magazine. The tour (self-guided) will begin with an opportunity to buy potted plants from 11.30 and lunch from 12 midday, both in the tranquil St Alban's church garden, 11 Ngaio St Eastbourne, Lower Hutt, Wellington. Anzac Day is usually commemorated by the Eastbourne Community at the war memorial adjacent to Muritai School, followed by refreshments at the Eastbourne Sports and Services Club. Assembly at Ballinger Gardens, Makaro Street from 9.30am – March to the Memorial Gates, Muritai School. ANZAC Service commences at 10am. Anzac Day is observed on 25 April. It commemorates New Zealanders killed in war and honours returned and serving servicemen and women.
