In general ECB recently requested that HCC place a sign stating “No fires on any beach south of here without a permit.” (or similar) at the entrance to the bays. The sign may not happen, but council did reply (summary): Council’s default position is not to authorise fires in Reserves or Open Space. The ECB welcomes the Council’s consultation on the Eastbourne Bowling Club’s proposal to build a bowling green on the sealed area beside the Eastbourne Sports and Services Club. This technology uses the system originally set up for civil defence, it is aging and will soon be phased out, includng repeaters – and it’s possible the channels may be repurposed and we would lose access.
